Florida's first on-site museum of historical facts located on the grounds of the beautiful Evergreen Cemetery in Casselberry Florida. Enjoy learning about another faucet of American history while honoring those who lived it.

It is our dream to further promote the history and significant contributions made by the members of the Winwood Park area of Altamonte Springs, who are now laid to rest on these beautiful grounds. We are doing this by building a museum to honor all those who came before us. The building will be a replica of an actual shotgun house, to display and store relevant artifacts, pictures, burial records and historical documents. The living museum with include furnishings that are period specific.

ABOUT US >

Welcome to EverGreen Cemetery, the perfect site for a museum of historical facts, The Brawner House.

The Evergreen Cemetery, Inc., is in the process of raising money to build an on-site historical museum to preserve its rich area-wide history. The history of the cemetery dates back to 1890 when the caring couples Mrs. Laura and Mr. William Brawner donated 16 acres of land for the establishment of a cemetery specifically for black slaves. A thoughtful gift, during a time when black and whites were not allowed to be buried together. The goal and dream of this building is to preserve the records of the cemetery, include historical artifacts and actual photos. Please support this initiative and experience the rich history of this cemetery. It's Black history, Florida history and American history.
